Land Record Date Converter

Enter the Bangabda date written on a deed, khatiyan or porcha to find its Gregorian equivalent under Bangladesh’s revised calendar rules.

Date written on the document

Select the day and Bangla month, then enter the year using Bangla or English digits, for example ১৩৫৬ or 1356. The resulting Gregorian date must be within 1900–2100.

The Gregorian date, weekday and time since the date will appear here.

Bangabda dates only. The calculation uses Bangladesh’s revised 2019 calendar; it does not identify Fasli or Hijri eras, read scans, or certify a document’s historical or legal date.

How to read a Bangla date on a document

Locate the date in the record and identify the calendar named beside the year. For a Bangabda date, select the day and Bengali month, then type the year exactly as written. Convert the date and compare the result with any English date elsewhere on the same document. A damaged digit or an uncertain month name can change the result.

Reading ১লা, ৫ই and ১৯শে

The letters after the day number are ordinal suffixes, not extra digits. For example, ১লা is day 1, ৫ই is day 5 and ১৯শে is day 19. Select only the day number in the form. Month names such as আষাঢ় identify a Bengali month; they are not Gregorian month names.

Example: ১৫ই আষাঢ় ১৩৫৬ সন

Read this as day 15, Asharh, Bangabda 1356. Under the revised Bangladesh rules used here, the Gregorian equivalent is 29 June 1949. Because 1949 predates the revision, this is a projected equivalent and must not be presented as a verified historical conversion. Use Try an example to see the result and warning.

Why an old deed date needs a calendar check

A modern calendar formula cannot establish which rules a historical record used. Bangladesh’s revised calendar and West Bengal panjikas can give different dates; older records may use another era. This tool makes its calculation method visible so the result can be used as a reference alongside the original document, not as a certification.

Frequently asked questions

What kinds of dates can I enter?

Enter a clearly identified Bangabda day, month and year from a deed, khatiyan, porcha or other written record. This tool converts the date you type; it does not verify the document, read handwriting or decide whether a record is authentic.

The year says Fasli or Hijri. Can I enter it as Bangabda?

No. Those are different calendar or era systems. The words Son or Sal alone do not establish which era was used. Confirm the calendar from the document’s context before entering a year here.

Will the historical date be exact?

Not necessarily. Dates before the 2019 revision are projections of the current Bangladesh rules and are flagged in the result. For historical use, compare a period panjika and any parallel Gregorian date written in the record.

Does this use West Bengal’s panjika?

No. This page uses Bangladesh’s revised civil calendar. The Bangla Date Converter offers a West Bengal Drik estimate for comparison, but that estimate also does not reproduce every historical panjika.
