Bangladesh revised calendar (2019 rules)
Supported Gregorian dates: 1 January 1900–31 December 2100. Bangladesh uses the revised 2019 rules; earlier dates are projections, not historical calendar records.

A Bangla date converter connects a Gregorian date with a day, month and year in the Bengali calendar, also called Bangabda. It changes the calendar used to express a date; changing 2026 to ২০২৬ alone only changes the numerals. Use English → Bangla when your source is an English calendar, and Bangla → English when your source gives a Bengali month and year.
The year number needs the month and day too. For example, 14 April 2026 is 1 Boishakh 1433 in Bangladesh’s revised calendar. Before the Bengali new year, the same Gregorian year still falls in the previous Bangla year. Subtracting a fixed number from the English year is therefore not enough to convert a full date.
Use English → Bangla for a Gregorian date, or Bangla → English for a Bengali date. Select the day and month, enter the year and convert. Both English and Bangla digits are accepted in the year field. Today uses the date in Asia/Dhaka.
Pohela Boishakh falls on 14 April. Boishakh through Ashwin have 31 days; Kartik, Ogrohayon, Poush, Magh and Choitro have 30. Falgun has 29 days, or 30 when the following Gregorian February is in a leap year.
Calendar rules referenceDays in the revised calendar
Choose the calendar used by the document or person you are working with. Bangladesh follows a fixed civil-calendar pattern under the revised rules. The West Bengal option estimates solar month boundaries, so both the start of a month and its length can differ. The two options use the same Bangla month names, but their dates are not interchangeable.
| What changes | Bangladesh | West Bengal (estimate) |
|---|---|---|
| Calculation method | Revised 2019 civil-calendar rules | Drik astronomical estimate, Lahiri ayanamsa |
| Start of Boishakh | 14 April under the revised rules | Varies with the estimated solar ingress |
| Length of a month | Fixed pattern; Falgun changes in a leap year | Varies by month and year, generally 29–32 days |
| Time zone for Today | Bangladesh time (Asia/Dhaka) | Indian Standard Time (Asia/Kolkata) |
Compare the same Gregorian date in both modes below. These examples use this tool’s Bangladesh rules and West Bengal estimate. To convert back, select the matching region and enter the Bangla day, month and year in Bangla → English.
| English (Gregorian) date | Bangladesh | West Bengal (estimate) |
|---|---|---|
| 14 April 2026 | 1 Boishakh 1433 | 30 Choitro 1432 |
| 15 April 2026 | 2 Boishakh 1433 | 1 Boishakh 1433 |
| 21 February 2024 | 8 Falgun 1430 | 8 Falgun 1430 |
| 29 February 2024 | 16 Falgun 1430 | 16 Falgun 1430 |
A leap day or a new-year boundary is a useful check when comparing calendars. Differences shown here come from the selected calendar, not from the language of the page.

Match a Bengali day and month to an English date, or write a known Gregorian birthday in Bangla. For older records, compare the result with the original period’s panjika: applying modern rules does not establish a historical date.
Add a calendar date to an article, school worksheet or social post without manually counting days. Date conversion and Bangla text-encoding conversion are different tasks; use a text converter if copied Bangla characters look broken.
Choose Bangladesh for the revised 2019 civil calendar, or West Bengal (India) for a Drik astronomical estimate in IST. The West Bengal mode uses variable month lengths, not a fixed offset from Bangladesh. Different panjika traditions may give different dates.
Dates from 1900 through 2100 are supported. Bangladesh dates before 16 October 2019 project today’s revised rules backwards. West Bengal dates use an approximate Drik model, not historical almanac records. Check a period panjika or original record for historical research.

Enter the Bengali year, such as 1433, together with a Bangla month such as Boishakh. For English to Bangla, enter the Gregorian year, such as 2026. You can type the year using either English or Bangla digits.
English dates follow Gregorian leap-year rules: a year divisible by 4 is a leap year, except century years must also be divisible by 400. Thus 2000 has 29 February, while 2100 does not. In Bangladesh mode, the corresponding Falgun has 30 days in a leap year instead of 29. West Bengal month lengths are calculated from its estimated month boundaries.
Check that the day exists in the selected month and year. For example, 31 April and 29 February 2026 are invalid English dates. West Bengal can have a 32-day Bangla month, but day 32 is valid only when that particular month and year support it. The resulting Gregorian date must also fall between 1900 and 2100.
No. English and Bangla labels display the same date in different scripts. The Bangladesh / West Bengal selector changes the calculation. Select the intended region even if you read the page in English.
